AIEEV Selected for LG Uplus’s AI Open Innovation Program ‘SHIFT’

AIEEV, a startup developing distributed GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) infrastructure technology, announced on the 1st that it has been selected as a participating company for LG Uplus’s AI open innovation program ‘SHIFT.’ SHIFT is a program designed to discover technology-based startups and support their commercialization.

AIEEV was also selected earlier this year for Samsung Electronics’ ‘C-Lab Outside’ and SK Telecom’s ‘AI Startup Accelerator Program.’ With its inclusion in SHIFT, the company has been consecutively chosen for startup incubation programs run by major domestic technology and telecommunications companies. The company cited its technological differentiation in distributed GPU infrastructure, the potential to address AI inference cost-reduction challenges, and the efficiency of lowering dependence on centralized data centers as reasons behind its continued selection.

AIEEV is a deep-tech startup providing Air Cloud, a distributed cloud platform that connects idle GPU and NPU (Neural Processing Unit) resources into a global network to form a cloud stack, enabling AI inference to be performed faster and at lower cost. A company official explained, “Instead of expanding centralized data centers, we build a cloud by linking numerous edge nodes,” adding that the company has “secured higher cost efficiency and operational flexibility compared to commercial clouds.”

Headquartered in Daegu, the company has succeeded in commercializing its technology with a core team composed of graduates from POSTECH, KAIST, Yonsei University, and Korea University, drawing on experience gained at major telecommunications and cloud companies. It is also participating in Daegu’s ABB (AI·Big Data·Blockchain)-related R&D initiatives.

CEO Sejin Park said, “As the AI market grows, GPU infrastructure costs and energy bottlenecks are emerging as critical challenges,” adding, “Based on our technological capability to connect over 100,000 edge nodes, we will provide reliable cloud services and present a sustainable model for AI infrastructure operations.” Source
